Housing Aid for Older People Grant
The Housing Aid for Older People Grant is available to assist people, 66 years old or more, living in poor housing conditions to have repairs or improvements carried out so that they can continue to live in their own home.
The type of work grant aided under the scheme include:
- Help repair or replace the roof; (a letter from your insurance company stating that the repairs are not covered under your policy must be submitted with your application)
- Upgrade the electrical wiring; (a Periodic Inspection Report from an electrician describing the condition of the existing wiring. This electrician must be registered with Safe Electric, must be submitted with your application).
- Provide central heating, i.e. where there is no central heating or it is broken beyond economic repair; (a report from a heating contractor stating that the existing heating system is beyond economic repair will be required to be submitted with your application). Grants are not available to buy new fossil fuel boilers, for example oil or gas boilers.
- Repair or replace doors and windows.
