Road resurfacing works are nearing completion on the Ballybane Road and Castlepark Road Active Travel Scheme. The final phase involves the resurfacing of sections of the Monivea Road to the east and west of the Ballybane Road Junction. This will continue until Thursday May 21.

Africa comes to Galway City this May, as part of a celebration of the people, cultures and potential of this wonderful continent and all of the African communities who call Galway City home. Africa Day, takes place on Saturday 23 May.

Over €30,000 was raised for five local charities at the annual Galway City Mayoral Ball, hosted by Mayor of the City of Galway, Cllr Mike Cubbard. The ball took place on Saturday 18 April 2026 in the Galmont Hotel, with over 300 attendees joining in a night of glamour, music and celebration in support of Ability West; ACT for Meningitis; AsIAm; Galway Rape Crisis Centre; and HopeSpace.
