High tide has now passed. There is some coastal flooding in Salthill.

Met Eireann has updated the Orange wind warning for Galway from 10:00 Sunday 20/10/2024 to 20:00 Sunday 20/10/2024

Based on Met Eireann’s current weather alerts, Galway City Council is asking businesses and residents to prepare for potentially significant coastal flooding on Sunday 20 October.

The annual Galway City Spaces for Biodiversity Competition (formerly Tidy Towns Garden Competition) results have been announced. The competition is organised by Galway City Council to recognise and celebrate the efforts of residents, businesses, and public buildings putting biodiversity first in their gardens, estates, and public areas.

Met Eireann has issued a Status Orange – Wind warning for Galway. Storm Ashley will bring very strong and gusty southerly winds, coupled with high spring tides.

Galway City Council wishes to advise that there will be a period of high astronomical spring tides in the coming days.

Galway City Council will be hosting a free day long event on the energy retrofit of traditional buildings on the 15th of November 2024.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Galway City Council proposes to make an order closing:

Upper Salthill Road (R-336): From Blackrock Tower to D’Arcy Roundabout.

Period of Closure: From 3.00pm to 10.00pm, Sunday 17th November 2024.

Reason: To facilitate a Motorsports Showcase.

The Arts Services of Clare County Council, Galway City Council and Mayo County Council are delighted to announce the launch of the Levelling Access Artists Practice Bursary.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Galway City Council has made an order closing:

Abbeygate Street Upper: From the junction at Bowling Green to the junction of Abbeygate Street Upper (opposite Sally Longs).

Period of Closure: From 8.00am to 2.00pm Tuesday 22nd October 2024.

Reason: To facilitate removal of scaffolding from external facade of Electric Nightclub and Abbeygate House.

Diversion Routes: Temporary diversion route will be in place via Bowling Green.
