To open an account, you require documentation to confirm;
- who you are (proof of identity),
- where you live (proof of address), and
- your source of income.
If you are unable to provide documents such as a passport and utility bill, the bank can accept alternative documents for identifying and verifying you.
All banks give the option of setting up a Current Account. These accounts may charge monthly fees. Some banks also give an option of setting up a basic account that does not charge fees.
Proof of identity – Temporary Residence Certificate - Temporary Residence Certificate (TRC) This document must be in date. This is the blue card you receive after your application at the IPO.
Proof of Address - A letter of Introduction from an approved Direct Provision Centre / Emergency Reception and Orientation Centre (EROC) accommodation provider. You should be able to use proof of address provided by your centre.
Proof of Income – Receipt from payment from post office or letter from Intreo/Department of Social Protection. May not be needed to set up account
