Great night for Galway City Communities at the Spaces for Biodiversity Awards 2025

The Award ceremony for Galway City Council’s ‘Spaces for Biodiversity’ Competition was held on Monday 15 December at the Connaught Hotel. The competition is organised by Galway City Council to recognise and celebrate the efforts of residents throughout the city in putting biodiversity first in their gardens, estates, and public areas. Cllr. Helen Ogbu was in attendance to present the prizes.

Galway City Council Outdoor Staff Raise Over €3,000 for Local Charities This Christmas

Outdoor staff in Galway City Council are bringing the true spirit of Christmas to life this year, raising an incredible €3,220 for three deserving local charities. Staff donated an average of €50 each reaching their grand total in time for Christmas. Their generosity will help spread joy and comfort to those who need it most during the festive season in Galway Autism Partnership, Galway Hospice, and the Paediatric Unit at University Hospital Galway.

Free Weekend Parking for Galway City Christmas Park and Commute

Galway City Council is delighted to partner with Atlantic Technological University and University of Galway for a Christmas ‘Park and Commute’. Commuters into the city can park for free in ATU (Ballybane Road) car park from the 13-14 December, and 19-24 December inclusive 8am to 10pm. The University of Galway ‘Park and Ride’ car park in Upper Newcastle will also be available for free parking from 19-24 December, from 8am to 10pm. Commuters than then continue onto the city on the public bus or on foot, avoiding the stress and cost of finding parking in the city centre.
