Galway City Welcomes over 400 Delegates to Chief Fire Officers Conference 2025

Galway City welcomed over 400 delegates and 150 exhibitors to the 66th Annual Irish Chief Fire Officers Association (ICFOA) Conference in the Salthill Hotel last week (7-8 May 2025).
Conference delegates were welcomed by Cllr. Peter Keane, Mayor of the City of Galway, and Cllr. Martina Kinane, Cathaoirleach of Galway County Council, followed by addresses from Leonard Cleary, Chief Executive of Galway City Council and Uinsinn Finn, Deputy Chief Executive of Galway County Council.

Galway City Projects Receive €250K Community Monuments Fund

Galway City Council has welcomed a grant of €250K for two Galway City projects, as part of the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage ‘Community Monuments Fund’ announced earlier this month. Funds to the value of €130,000 will be invested in Menlough Castle, with €120,000 to be invested in St Nicholas Collegiate Church. The funding will be used for essential repairs and capital works for the conservation and repairs at both structures.

Launched in response to public demand for a thriving café culture after 6pm, Café Lates supports local businesses in trialing extended opening hours and offering diverse, alcohol-free evening experiences.
