Galway City Council, in partnership with Clean Coasts Ireland and Galway Atlantaquaria, recently celebrated Love Your Beach 2025, a vibrant three-day campaign held from 14–16 May across three Galway City beaches.

In celebration of Biodiversity Week 2025, young musicians from three Galway City primary schools will present original songs inspired by nature, biodiversity, and climate action. The performances are part of Music in Nature, a creative music project delivered by Music Generation Galway City in collaboration with Galway City Council Arts Office.

Galway City Council welcomed over 100 delegates from Lorient, France, to Galway City, to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the twinning of Galway and Lorient – the first such twinning agreement between Ireland and France. The twinning coincides with Brittany Fest in Galway City, taking place from 9-18 May 2025.

The call for submissions to the 2025 National Age Friendly Recognition and Achievement awards is now live and the closing date is 30th May 2025.

We are excited to confirm that Galway City Council and Galway County Council are jointly hosting this year’s event in The Galmont Hotel, Galway, on Thursday, October 23rd, 2025, and therefore we are especially keen to have high-quality initiatives from Galway City and County entered in the Awards this year.

Mayor of Galway City, Councillor Peter Keane launched Cruinniú na nÓg 2025 on Tuesday 13 May with a presentation of poetry, art, and music at City Hall from young people involved in the Creative Youth Advisory Group.
