Galway City Council Homeless Service
If you are (a) homeless, (b) at risk of homelessness, (c) rough sleeping, and your last permanent address was in Galway City and/or you have a valid Social Housing Application you can contact the homeless team at 091 536400 or email homeless@galwaycity.ie A member of our team will carry out an assessment.
The following information may be required to carry out the assessment.

Homeless HAP Place Finder Service
To qualify for Homeless HAP the following conditions apply

If you are currently in Emergency Accommodation or a valid Notice to Quit from your Landlord

Have a valid up to date Social Housing Application with Galway City Council.

Are homeless or at risk of homelessness and have no other accommodation choices
The Homeless HAP team will provide
- When you secure Private Rented Accommodation we can assist you with a Deposit and advance month’s rent in order to secure a tenancy.
- You must comply with the Homeless HAP conditions in order to receive this payment
- The Homeless HAP Place Finder can be contacted on placefinder@galwaycity.ie

If you have received a Notice of Termination from your Landlord
The Tenancy Sustainment Officer requires the following documents:
A copy of the notice of termination and you letter of compliance from Threshold to Galway City Council. This can be submitted via email tenancysustainment@galwaycity.ie or housing.department@galwaycity.ie by Post to Galway City Council, City Hall, Galway or in person at the Housing Counter.

Private Residential Tenancies Board, PRTB,
If you are renting privately and are in dispute with your landlord the Private Residential Tenancies Board (PRTB) offer a landlord tenant dispute resolution service. The tenancy does not need to be registered to access this service. Expressions of Interest – Emergency Accommodation
Galway City Council and Galway County Council are seeking expressions of interest from Hoteliers, Proprietors of Guest Accommodation, B&B and self-contained own door units who wish to have their facility or rooms therein, included in the Council’s list of Emergency Accommodation for homeless families and individuals. This accommodation needs to be located in Galway City or in nearby towns and villages to Galway City with good public transport links with regular daily services.
Family and single rooms may be required to meet emergency accommodation needs as they arise.
Galway City Council and Galway County Council will through their service provider
• Nominate clients as required
• Pay agreed fee
Submissions should detail type of accommodation, number of rooms to be included, price per night/week/month and confirm catering and laundry facilities availability.
The Form should be submitted to homeless@galwaycity.ie for the attention of the Administrative Officer on or before Friday 25 July 2025.
Any panel that may be formed will be for a minimum 2 years from date of placement.
The submission of an expression of interest, does not place an obligation on Galway City Council or Galway County Council to enter into an agreement with a provider.
