Cycle Parking
The provision of cycle parking is integral to encouraging more people to cycle in Galway. It is also important for integration with public transport for multi-modal journeys.
With funding from the National Authority and the Urban Regeneration and Development Fund, Galway City Council’s Active Travel Department is continuing to expand and upgrade cycle parking facilities throughout the city.
On-street parking
Galway City Council has installed cycle parking stands which can accommodate approximately 1600 bicycles throughout the city. This allows for significant levels of on-street cycle parking, together with cycle parking at community facilities and amenity areas.
In addition, following expressions of interest Galway City Council has provided cycle parking stands and scooter parking to numerous schools and sports clubs throughout the city.
The locations of on street and off-street cycle parking can be viewed on Galway City Council’s Cycle Parking map which can be accessed by clicking on this link. This map also includes details on other cycling facilities in the city, including bike repair stations. It will be updated as more cycle parking is developed.
