Empowering Local Communities: Galway City Council Recruits Three Urban and Community Officers

Galway City Council today announced the appointment of three new Urban and Community Development Officers to give targeted support to community and voluntary groups in the City. These pioneering roles will support the growth and empowerment of local communities, working closely with residents, community groups and other stakeholders to implement community development initiatives and enhance community cohesion.

Galway City Council Receives Heritage Council Funding for Vernacular Heritage Survey of Ballindooley / Baile an Dúlaigh

Galway City Council is delighted to have received Heritage Council funding for a Vernacular Heritage Survey of Baile an Dúlaigh / Ballindooley, Galway City. The survey will record a wide range of items including buildings, metalwork, literature, folklore references, and placenames and will be used to prepare a Conservation Management Plan of Fahy’s Farm – a vernacular farm complex in the ownership of Galway City Council.

Exhibition exploring Galway’s air quality opens at Galway Arts Centre

‘The Air We Share’ features artworks created in collaboration with climate scientists and the local community Galway Arts Centre, in conjunction with Galway City Council, today (14.08.25) launched a major new group exhibition that invites visitors to experience an immersive sound installation, watch real-time environmental data transform into digital sculptures, and learn more about Galway’s air quality, climate and shared environment.
